Do you want to contribute to EU sustainability and help shape the future of packaging in Europe?
Steel for Packaging Europe is hiring a Sustainability & Public Affairs Officer. This is a hands-on position with a strong focus on sustainability, giving you the chance to apply technical skills and develop expertise in EU policymaking and circular economy initiatives. You will also gain experience in Public Affairs, working closely with the Head of European Affairs and engaging with industry stakeholders.
What you will do:
- Work on key EU files such as the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and circular economy initiatives.
- Analyse and translate EU legislation into practical guidance for industry
- Contribute to position papers, consultation responses and technical briefings and advocacy materials
- Support SfPE’s work on recyclability, recycling rates and environmental performance
- Coordinate and follow up on working groups (Sust WG and PA WG) with industry experts across Europe
- Engage with EU institutions and stakeholders, working closely with the Head of European Affairs on advocacy activities, meetings and events.
Your profile:
- 2–5 years of experience in sustainability; we are open to candidates from any academic background, provided they have relevant practical experience.
- Strong interest in EU sustainability policy and circular economy
- Ability to analyse complex information and communicate it clearly
- Well organised, proactive and comfortable managing several topics at once
- Excellent English (additional EU languages are a plus)
