Steel for Packaging Europe to speak at 13th International Tinplate conference in London

The 13th International Tinplate Conference will take place 9th - 10th September 2025 in London, UK.

Taking place every 4 years, the event brings together industry leaders, innovators and experts for two days of insightful presentations, networking opportunities, and discussions on the latest trends and technologies in tinplate. Attracting delegates from across the supply chain, including tinplate producers, traders, analysts, can makers, lacquer suppliers, equipment and electrolyte suppliers, the two-day event will include presentations and Q&A sessions on Market Trends, Tinplate Innovations, End-User Perspectives, Sustainability, Technical Developments and Future Challenges & Opportunities.

Steve Claus, Secretary General, and President Richard Lézé, will update the audience on the latest EU legislation for packaging and packaging waste, highlighting how legislation is moving towards stricter recyclability requirements that favour steel.

Ruaidri MacDomhnaill, Regulatory Affairs Manager, will give an overview of the technical regulations affecting tinplate innovations, including the Chromium-Free Passivation Alternative (CFPA) developed by Steel for Packaging Europe members as a replacement to the use of hexavalent chromium substances.
