IFTSR 2026 – International Forum on Tinplated Steels and Metals Packaging & Recycling

What’s next for tinplate and metal packaging?

IFTSR 2026 will bring together industry leaders, researchers, recyclers, regulators and brand owners to explore the technologies, regulations and market forces shaping the future of metal packaging.

From CBAM, anti-dumping measures, energy costs and raw material volatility to advanced lacquers, BPA-NI solutions, food contact compliance and shelf-life performance, the Forum will tackle some of the key challenges facing the sector today. Circularity and sustainability will be high on the agenda, with discussions on low-carbon production, eco-design, recycled content, eco-labelling, de-coating, sorting and both pre- and post-consumer recycling. The evolving regulatory landscape, notably the PPWR, will also take centre stage. And as digitalisation accelerates, the Forum will look at how Artificial Intelligence and digital technologies are transforming quality control, defect detection, predictive maintenance and smart manufacturing.

We’re pleased that Steve Claus, Secretary General of Steel for Packaging Europe (SfPE), is part of the IFTSR 2026 Organising Committee and will be joining the Forum. His involvement brings a European steel packaging perspective to the discussion around recycling, circularity, regulation and the competitiveness of the sector.

IFTSR 2026 is an opportunity to connect across the value chain, share expertise and help shape a roadmap for innovation, sustainability, compliance and resilience in metal packaging.
