Today, 5 June, marks the conclusion of EU Green Week 2025, which this year has focused on “Circular solutions for a competitive EU.” These themes are at the heart of what we do every day at Steel for Packaging Europe - advancing recyclability, circularity, and industry innovation.

So we’re proud to announce that steel packaging recycling rates rose again in 2023, continuing the strong upward trend of recycling in Europe.

We highlight one success story, Italy. The country also kicks off a new awareness campaign that we support, spotlighting the relevance and value of steel for the circular economy.

This issue also explores the latest EU policy developments shaping our sector, all within the wider context of building a sustainable and competitive European economy.
